Acadêmicos se reuniram para estabelecer um novo 'Centro de Excelência' para promover boas práticas de segurança no setor de transporte do Reino Unido. Um estudo sobre veículos autônomos, liderado pelo ResiCAV, destacou as principais falhas no transporte rodoviário nacional. Com a contribuição de universidades, conselhos locais e do National Digital Exploitation Centre, o programa proposto de  três meses  foi apoiado por financiamento do governo, incluindo Innovate UK.
