France invests in cybersecurity

Earlier this month, two French hospitals were left unable to fulfil operations, and without internet and phone systems, after suffering high profile ransomware attacks. French president Emmanuel Macron was quick to respond, saying France was “vulnerable” and immediately pledging €1 billion to fight attackers.

With the two hospitals expected to be offline for many weeks while issues are fixed, Macron added that this has demonstrated the “importance of stepping up and investing [in cybersecurity].”
