U.S. technology giant SolarWinds has agreed to a multi-million dollar settlement with its shareholders over a lawsuit filed against the company for failing to prevent the widely-publicised data breach it suffered in 2020.

Medibank on Wednesday confirmed the leak of its data stolen in a recent ransomware attack. The insurer had refused to fork out a ransom to the unknown ransomware gang in exchange for the safe return of millions of data records and the assurance that it won’t be published.

Medibank Hackers Begin Publishing Data

It has been announced that the criminals behind the Medibank data breach have published some of the stolen data online. On Wednesday the names, addresses, birthdates and Medicare details of about 200 customers started appearing on the dark web under a “good-list” and a “naughty-list”. The health insurer has warned that more stolen data, including passport numbers, will also be published after the first files were released overnight.

Medibank confirmed earlier today that the criminal behind a data breach that impacted roughly four million Australians has released files on a dark web forum. According to a company’s blog post, the leaked data includes personal data like names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses and Medicare numbers for ahm customers. Also included were passport numbers for international students and some health claim data.
